Vincenzina
I recently engaged Lawyer Jenny Forti from Gordon Legal to represent me for a workcover claim . Jenny is an excellent Lawyer , she is smart , compassionate, understanding but most of all Jenny works extremely hard to achieve every entitlement that your claim deserves . The two most important assets that Jenny imparts are genuine kindness and excellent legal advice. Jenny works with another coworker Sarah Coates- they are an awesome team as Sarah is one of the very best communicators that you could hope to meet – once again smart articulate and genuinely kind . I felt at all times through my claim that they had my best interests at hart and they achieved an excellent result – I feel extremely privileged to have had them as my representatives and cannot speak highly enough of their excellent service. Thank you very much

Frequently asked questions
Compensation Work Cover
What is workers’ compensation?
If you’ve been injured at work or developed a medical condition because of your job, workers’ compensation is there to support you. It’s a type of insurance that helps cover your medical costs and lost wages while you recover.
Your injury might be from a single accident – like a fall or lifting something heavy – or it could be a condition that developed over time, such as a repetitive strain injury or illness caused by your work environment.
In Victoria, this system is often called WorkCover, and claims are handled by insurance companies on behalf of WorkSafe Victoria.
If you need help understanding your rights or making a claim, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Who is eligible for workers’ compensation benefits?
To be eligible for workers’ compensation, an employee must sustain an injury that occurs as a result of, or during, the course of their employment. An employee might be covered even if their injury did not occur while performing a task directly related to their work. For example, a worker might be covered if they suffered an injury while on an authorised break from work.
If you’re unsure whether your workplace accident is eligible for work injury reimbursement, it is recommended to you seek legal advice and contact a workers’ compensation lawyer.
Is there a time limit for reporting a workplace injury?
Yes. In Victoria, you only have 30 days to report the accident or injury to your employer. Telling your employer as soon as possible in writing helps protect your rights and makes the claims process smoother.
You should also lodge your WorkCover claim as soon as you can. While claims can still be accepted after 30 days, delays can complicate things and may affect how your claim is assessed.
If it’s been more than 30 days or you’re unsure what to do next, speak with one of our specialised workers’ compensation lawyers. We can explain your options and help you move forward.
